The Long Journey Home

This letter was sort of inspired by the awful movie (Liam Neeson was the non-awful part) “The Other Man” (2008).  I saw this movie five years ago and wondered why she had to go through all that convoluted “red shoe” business instead of simply telling him at some point. Or writing a letter.  This is a letter that I thought she might write.

Dearest Jacob,

Knowing your consistency, I am sure you did not peek. I am 100% sure that you never even looked at this letter until the body that failed me has been reduced to ashes.  I write this because I must.

I know your every quirk, and I can predict your every move. Our marriage is stable, comforting, yet cold. I wanted more but was not prepared to cause you pain. You know the rest now. Forgive me.
